Gunnar Ardelius was born in 1981 and made his debut with the YA novel I Need You More Than I Love You and I Love You To Bits (Rabén & Sjögren). The book has been translated into many languages including English, French and German. It was nominated to the August Prize and won the Slangbellan prize for best debut. The book has also been made into a film making its première at the 2012 Gothenburg Film Festival, and has also been aired on Swedish television.
Friheten förde oss hit/The Love of Liberty Brought Us Here is GunnarArdelius’ fourth book, the first aimed at adult readers, and takes place in Liberia in the 1960s. It was nominated to the Magazine Vi’s Literature Prize 2012 with the following words from the Jury: "Quietly and with great conciseness Gunnar Ardelius portrays an intense human drama that revolves around closeness, distance and power."
Since 2012 Gunnar Ardelius is also the chairman of the Swedish Writers’ Union.
