In The Jewels of the Coast, we are given a personal report by archipelago photographer Sören Colbing, from Sweden’s long coastline. Picturesque harbours, mysterious islands and uncharted skerries all have a place among these jewels. In all, 32 selected sites along the entire Swedish coast. Allow yourself to be inspired and tempted to undertake your own adventures along our coast, with Colbing’s superb pictures and personal texts.
Excerpt from the book:
“I set off walking and discover that the Väder islands are just as wild and beautiful as I remember them. There is no wind from the sea, but nevertheless there is a strong breeze and the roll of thunder can be heard from the direction of Fjällbacka. Promontories stretching out towards the sea, bays with huge rocks worn down by the waves give me a feeling of well being. Then I reach the highest peak on Rammö and look out towards Väderöbod. This must be Sweden’s most inaccessible lighthouse.”
Sören Colbing portrays the archipelago, he is a photographer and author. Colbing’s pictures from the archipelago have been seen by several hundred million people the world over in the TV presentation ‘The Archipelago of Sweden’. He has been honoured with prizes such as the Artisan of the Year, the Panda Book of the Year and other cultural awards and stipends. Sören Colbing grew up on an island in the outer reaches of Stockholm’s southern archipelago, and he says that the best season in the archipelago is “all year round”.
