How do we treat our fellow human beings, professionally and privately, when we meet them? What happens when we succeed or fail in such a meeting? Human feeling is a key word for Dr Emmanuel Ezra, surgeon and consultant, who every day meets many people who find themselves in very difficult situations and who has therefore reflected a great deal upon such subjects as ‘values’, ‘priorities’ and ‘crisis management’.
We form and influence others through our way of treating them. Our meetings give life meaning and value. Our ability to contribute to ‘good encounters’, and our ability to deal with the painful meetings decide to a large extent how our life will come to turn out.
“I feel privileged that I am able to go in a school for how to interact with people, a school where one lesson can be the joy of telling a patient about a successful operation, and another lesson to follow a person’s last days, hours and minutes on this Earth. Joy and meaning.”
