Lisens indiska spa

Fragrant spices, colourful flowers, glowing oils and juicy fruits – these are some of the ingredients that Lisen Sundgren uses in her Indian spa for harmony, beauty and inner balance.

With inspiration from her travels and spa treatments in India and from the science of Ayurveda, Lisen describes a simple way of creating an Indian spa in your very own bathroom. In India, they often make use of spicy scrubs for cleaning, and vegetable oils to give the skin nourishment. The oils are used in, for example, a relaxing oil massage, abhyanga, which can be followed by a steam bath with the scent of cinnamon and lemon.

This book contains a large number of recipes for sensual scrubs, baths and steam baths, herbal oils and face masks, but even for smoothies and other drinks that are good to sip while you are in your spa. Here is everything from simple beauty tips to recipes for an entire Indian bath ceremony that can make the simplest bathroom seem like an Indian palace!
As in her previous book, the recipes are sorted in a chapter with basic recipes and four chapters with different main themes: flowers, spices, oils and fruits. A face mask with sandal wood, a papaya cream that gives moisture back to the skin and makes it silken soft, and a body scrub with turmeric and youghurt are some of the recipes in this book. It ends with a description of all the ingredients that are used.
The book has been checked for accuracy by a well known Ayurveda therapist, Manoj Krishnan Nair.

Lisen Sundgren is a herbal therapist and a traditional homeopath. She arranges popular courses and ‘herbal walks’ in the Rosendal Gardens in Stockholm as well as in other places in Sweden. Her first book, Lisens örtspa (Lisen’s herbal spa), published in2008, is already a standard work. Her own range of skincare products, Lisen Organics, is highly regarded.
