Det hemliga namnet

The Secret Name

by Inger Edelfeldt

A novel of our times, Det hemliga namnet/The Secret Name is about identity, its mysteries and its labyrinths. About love, in your dreams and for real. And about how your desires and wishes can simply be too big for your life, so there is hardly any room to fit them in. Perhaps this story is a mirror of today’s myths. Or the book many have waited for – “a novel of this generation from a woman’s point of view”.

The main character is Helena, an artist, mother of a twenty-five-year-old son and expert on impossible love affairs. The secret about the name is her secret. And one that she tries to forget, but which is always demanding her attention. And in the end it is perhaps this secret which leads her to what might be sustainable love and to a confrontation she has feared.
