Jenny

Jenny

by Jonas Gardell

It’s the last day of school in the Stockholm suburb of Sävbyholm. Juha Lindström’s class has graduated from the ninth grade. In a forest on the banks of the nearby lake, the class is having an end-of-year party. Everyone except for Juha is there; even Jenny – the class doormat and bully victim – has come for the party that is meant to provide the memory of a lifetime.

But the party gets out of hand. For Jenny the whole thing ends in disaster.

Twenty-five years after that fateful night, Juha tries to find out what really happened to his childhood friend Jenny. He receives a letter that hints at something too terrible to put into words.

But his old classmates are strangely put out and unwilling to speak about it. The memory of a lifetime that nobody wants to remember.

Jenny joins Jonas Gardell’s bestselling novels En komikers uppväxt/A Comic Grows Up and Ett UFO gör entré/Enter a Freak.

Jonas Gardell was born in 1963 and made his highly praised literary debut in 1985 with the novel Passionsspelet /The Passion Play. Since then he has published several books, plays and other texts. He is one of Scandinavia's most popular stand-up comedians and a highly esteemed playwright.
