Du är rötterna som sover vid mina fötter och håller jorden på plats

You Are the Roots that Sleep at My Feet and Keep the Earth in Place

by Eli Levén

”We are going to be something, you and me, Sebastian. We have to protect what is ours.”

Sebastian encounters the mysterious Andreas for the first time on Walpurgis Night, in a local park in Stockholm. Their relationship is passionate and dramatic. But deep inside Sebastian carries another person, someone nobody else sees but him. Her name is Ellie, and one day she shall rise from his ashes.

Eli Levén’s debut novel is a work of auto-fiction revolving round the icon of Saint Sebastian, pierced by arrows and tethered to a tree.

Eli Levén was awarded the Katapult Prize for his novel.
