In 2008, Ned til hundene was published, and that book was subsequently nominated for the Literary Prize of the Nordic Council. In Sweden, Helle Helle is published by Lindelöws.

This prize for a young author reaching out into Europe, was established on the occasion of Enquist’s 70th birthday in 2005 by Norstedts, Bok & Bibliotek and Enquist’s foreign publishers.
The jury comprises PO Enquist, Eva Gedin (Norstedts), Janneken Øverland (Gyldendal Norsk Forlag) and Jakob Malling Lambert (Rosinante& CO). Previous prizewinners are Julie Zeh, Jonas Hassen Khemiri, Trude Marstein och Daniel Kehlmann.

“It was the best present in the world for an author: a package filled with foreign impressions and time for writing. Just when it was most needed.” (Jonas Hassen Khemiri)

“The PO Enquist Literary Prize is associated with a very important author. I feel that the members of the committee display a high quality in their task of choosing the candidates for the award. Receiving the PO-award was the first experience thus far of being seen and read outside of Norway. (Trude Marstein)
