Today it was revealed that Amanda Svensson is this year's recipient of the esteemed Per Olov Enquist Literary Prize, awarded annually to “a younger writer set for a European breakthrough”. The prize has previously been awarded to writers such as Jonas Hassen Khemiri, Helle Helle and Jón Kalman Stefánsson.
In connection to the awards ceremony, this year held at the Nord Festival in Denmark, the jury released the following statement: In her new novel Amanda Svensson portrays with both sincerity and humour, how there is a system to the madness and a madness in the system. It is a winding work that establishes her among the great storytellers with a totally unique voice.
A Magnificent System – Amanda Svensson’s fourth novel – was published earlier this year to great acclaim and foreign rights have currently been sold to France, Germany, Norway and the UK.
