We are proud and delighted to announce that Amanda Svensson’s A System So Magnificent It Is Blinding, translated into the English by Nichola Smalley, has been longlisted for the International Booker Prize 2023.
Praised by The Telegraph (a wild 529-page trip), The Guardian(a riddling epic) and many more, Svensson’s spirited family saga tells the story of triplets who, when we meet them at the age of 26, are scattered across the world following the death of a loved one.
Scribe Publisher Molly Slight: “I am delighted that Amanda Svensson’s intriguing and intricate novel A System So Magnificent It Is Blinding, magnificently translated by Nichola Smalley, is on the longlist for the International Booker Prize. It is such a brilliant read, luring you in with its quirky characters and unusual storylines, and keeping you hooked with the fascinating overarching question: are we free to create our own destinies or are we just part of a system beyond our control?”
A shortlist of six will be announced at the London Book Fair on 18 April and a final winner will be crowned on 23 May. Best of luck, Amanda!
