Following his remarkable literary triumphs in Finland, winning both the Runeberg Prize and Swedish Yle’s Literature Prize for his first novel Shade and Breeze, we were absolutely thrilled to learn that Quynh Tran has been declared the 22nd winner of Borås Tidning’s Debutant Prize. The jury described the book as an innovative novel that fabricates the dreamy lightness of life in the face of adversity. Jury member and literature critic Björn Kohlström also added that this could be the beginning of a really important authorship and described the book as a coming-of-age novel that is very atypical and original.
