Jens Mikkelsen lives in Malmö and has worked as an award-winning investigative journalist at Sydsvenskan since 2005. He has written a book about missing undocumented children and, over the years, has depicted the black market and Malmö’s underworld in several reports. He won the Swedish Grand Journalism Award in 2008, the Swedish Publicist Club’s Grand Prize in 2018, and the Golden Shovel Award in 2005 and 2008. He was awarded the Wendel Prize in 2016 and 2018, and the Cordelia Edvardson Prize in 2018.

The Sanctuary is his debut in the suspense genre and the first book in a new crime series about the journalists Anne and Sven in Malmö. It is co-written with Lena Sundström. Together, they have forty years of experience scrutinizing misconduct and abuses of power across all levels of society, both in Sweden and abroad.
