Sofia Stenström

Magic Love Pixie

Her mouth comes first. Mum’s naked mouth. Nadja turns her face up to her and waits. Mum’s face is so soft and her lips are always ready for kisses.

Nadja grows up surrounded by her mother’s unconditional love in a world inhabited by spirits and beasts. It is a world that offers little space for the male species – men that appear as almost mythical creatures to Nadja.
When her mother dies, Nadja wishes to recreate the same kind of unconditional love. Together with her best friend Angelica she explores drugs and peculiar underground clubs. During one of these nights she encounters a man who calls himself the Demon. Nadja’s fantasies are put into motion and she recklessly throws herself into a complex relationship.

Following two poetry collections, Sofia Stenström returns with her first novel – an investigation of how far intimacy and love can reach. Magic Love Pixie is both provocative and fearless, but also a story about grief. It is a novel full of spiritism, pulp literature, deepthroating and throatsinging.
