This volume contains three texts by Per Olov Enquist on August Strindberg. The Night of the Tribades, Enquist’s debut play was written in 1975. It is a play about August Strindberg and his relation to the women around him. This play made Enquist into one of the most performed Scandinavian playwrights and has enjoyed about 200 productions around the world including a critical success on Broadway.
Strindberg: A Life is the basis for the SVT television series that was broadcasted for the first time in 1985, Enquist himself calls it a television novel. The third text The Case Against Miss Julie is an essay that was first published in 1992.
Per Olov Enquist was born in 1934 in a small village in Norrland, the northern part of Sweden. After studies at the university of Uppsala he received his MA in 1960.
