It has been a wonderful start for first-time novelist Elin Anna Labba’s The Home of the Drowned with pre-empts in Germany (S. Fischer), Italy (Marsilio), Denmark (Gyldendal) and Finland (Tammi). In addition, rights have also been sold to France (Payot & Rivages) in a four-way auction and to Norway (Pax) and USA (University of Minnesota Press), both in exclusive submissions.
Having won the August Prize for Best Non-fiction with Sirdolaccat in 2020, this is Labba’s first work of fiction, where she revisits her Sámi heritage and gives us another poignant story of oppression and perseverance.
